This week – 2 October 1263

The Battle of Largs, between King Alexander III of Scotland and King Haakon IV of Norway, took place. Though not a decisive victory for Alexander, King Haakon’s men did submit to the Scots and in 1266, Norway’s new king, Magnus, officially surrendered the Western Isles to King Alexander in the Treaty of Perth.
