Creation of Scotland – Sunday Times

In an article entitled ‘English landlords were key to Bannockburn breakaway’ published in The Sunday Times Scotland on 5 August a garbled account is given of the May 2012 Feature of the Month. There are no ‘documents going into a new university archive’. This must be a reference to the charters discussed in the Feature, which appear in the database, www.poms.ac.uk/database. An enhanced version of the database, extended to 1314, will be launched on 5 September. This must be what is intended as the ‘new university archive’. It should also be pointed out that the argument of the May 2012 Feature of the Month places Robert Bruce’s achievement in context insofar as it suggests that aristocrats like him had reason to be keen on Scottish independence about eighty years before King Robert himself was born.
