This week – 3-7 September 1296

Edward I’s progress through Scotland, which began in March 1296, was coming to an end. Following his parliament on 28 August at Berwick, at which time he received the homage and fealty of several hundred Scots, he remained in the town until mid-September before finally heading back into England after 16 September.
